A few more pics of this precious girl.

First is the photo that the pound posted on their FB page of her. You get a sense of how scared and timid she was.

A week after I brought her home and she is such an affectionate and huggy girl. She will crawl up into or walk up and plop into my lap.

Well, She had her appointment to get spayed today, and it was heart-breaking to take her in there.

She was very scared and when I put her in her kennel there, she was trembling.

I did find out that her fear/aversion to hard floors is actually quite typical of German Shepherds. I have had two others in my life and never knew this.

Yup. I can totally relate to this.

My girl is a typical German Shepherd.

Here is a photo I took of her the morning of her vet appointment.

We got her back from the vet today.

I took the whole family to get her. We talked with the vet for a bit at the reception desk about post-op care and such. She said Brea's uterus tore and so she did bleed more than normal, but that she should be fine.

She also told us that she had not made a peep the whole time. But as she heard us talking, she recognized my voice and began to howl from the back room.

We brought her home and she has thankfully done nothing but sleep on her day bed. She needs to rest.

Unfortunately, when she woke up, she has begun licking and messing with her wounds, so I was forced to put on the cone of shame.

      "Can you hear me now?"

I am actually going to have to sleep on the couch tonight to keep an eye on her, she has tried to paw this off her and I don't want her to hurt herself.

Well, Brea seems to be recovering well. I was concerned for her foot yesterday morning as it was looking a bit red and inflamed, so I took her into the vets. They looked her over and said the foot looked fine.

She is funny though. When I come home, she will crawl into my lap and bury her head and nose. It is her way of hugging me a I guess.

This past weekend, we were out of house (but just 4 blocks away) for most of the days. So Monday, as I sat on my office floor, sorting receipts, she laid her head in my lap and seemed so very content to sleep there.

      Man I love this girl!

      Here are some more pics...
