Welcome one and all to the Brachypelma albiceps (Mexican Blonde Red-rumped Tarantula) Fan Club!

Wow! What an amazingly beautiful spider! I was stricken the first time I ever saw this girl!

After a long, complicated story this summer, I eventually got my girl, and had to wait a month and a half for her first molt with me. But when she did, WOW! What a transformation into her adult coloration!

Tiqvah (Hebrew word for Hope) is a sweet girl. She barely ever flicks at me, and in hand, is such a charm. She does have cute moments though when she throws her rump into the air in protest.

When I first got her in the mail, she was a 2.5" baldy.

      36 days later, she molted.

Hey, where are the pictures? I was hoping some others would chime in with your pics? My girl may be another month or two away from her next molt, and I am wanting more pics!

I also think B. albiceps are beautiful. I wanted one from the moment I saw one. Christmas is the perfect time to get one too- my albiceps, Joy, was amy Christmas present from my Mom and Dad. Her colors, I think are Christmasy- Red and Gold.

She also put her butt in the air when I was flashing her with my camera over and over.. LOL! She never tried to flick, just stuck her little booty in the air.

More pics- (But some of these will be posted on my picture thread too )

Awesome! Thanks for posting! The similarities in temperament are striking to me.

BTW, sounds like you have some Ts to add to the Typical Tarantula Temperaments spreadsheet.
