      Monocentropus balfouri, Socotran Blue Baboon

I never expected to own any of these due to the exorbitant price tag they usually carry. At the ATS Conference in July I got an excellent price on a ~2" juvie and ended up winning one of its sac mates in the raffle. I was doing a serious happy dance!

Behavior-wise, the two of them are as different as night and day. "Dungaree" had an impromptu rehousing at 3:30 a.m. about a week after arriving home. I learned in the wee hours of the morning that M. balfouri have amazing teleportation capabilities and that when I have my hands full of captured spider I can open large rubbermaid containers with my toes... Anyway, into its new enclosure it went on 8/11/2011 and has only been seen on rare occasion since.

"Denim", on the other hand, maintains a strict routine which includes sitting on top of her webbed mound and 'basking' for the better part of the day before retiring to her burrow at night. S/he has always been quite willing to pose for pictures.

Today. ~3.5 - 4" I don't see the exuvium, it's got to be in there somewhere... As far as gender, well, it's either a boy or a girl...

Recent molt did absolutely nothing for this one's temperament... More threat poses from this individual than from all my OBTs combined! LOL

It's okay, you can be mean when you look that good and everyone will still like you. LOL

Hello everyone, here is my largest girl. She is six inches (6") I didn't know they grew that large. They are good eaters and great webbers.
