On the bitey question, "Do they mellow with age?". My answer for jungle carpets would be "NO!" I raised a trio (one male and two females) from hatchlings. As youngins, they were extremely bitey. But when they got bigger they went from extremely bitey to super, mega extremely bitey. When I moved from CA to GA I had to get rid of them so I donated them to the Atlanta Zoo. A few years later I visited them and the reptile keeper there let me go back behind the enclosures to view them from there. Before he opened their enclosure he says, "Be careful, they will strike out as soon as we open the door". I told him that I figured that. So he opens the door and sure enough, one of them did indeed come flying out at us. They were nine feet long full on adults at time.

So, NO, ..... they don't mellow with age.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL!
